Shoalwater Islands Marine Park
Spanning 6,000 hectares, the protected Shoalwater Islands Marine Park is a treasure trove of aquatic activity and home to spectacular sea animals like playful bottlenose dolphins, sea lions and pelicans. Dolphins thrive in Rockingham's waters and can often be seen gliding through the surrounding beaches. Cavernous reefs like The Sisters make for otherworldly scuba diving or snorkelling expeditions, while the Saxon Ranger Dive Wreck in Warnbro Sound is a renowned underwater playground.
Marine life abounds beneath the surface, and Perth Wildlife Encounters offers a range of unforgettable ways to experience it. Join their signature Swim with Wild Dolphins tour for a truly immersive encounter with local pods. For a more relaxed experience, hop aboard the Wildlife Cruise or the Dolphin, Sea Lion & Penguin Island Cruise, where you'll drift across turquoise waters spotting wild dolphins, rare Australian sea lions, pelicans, and birds of prey before exploring Penguin Island. Adventurers can also join the 3 Island Snorkel Tour, which combines marine wildlife encounters with snorkelling in crystal-clear waters and a gourmet-style lunch.
To reach Penguin Island, you can take a quick Penguin Island Ferry, or choose the Ferry and Guided Wildlife Walk to learn more about the island’s unique flora and fauna. Alternatively, the Wildlife Cruise and Lunch combines sightseeing and dining for a leisurely day out.
For those looking to explore by paddle, the marine park is also home to excellent kayaking tours. Glide across the bay with Capricorn Seakayaking on their Penguin and Seal Island Tour, or opt for the Rivergods Kayak Adventures Perth Penguins & Sea Lions Kayak Tour - a fun-filled day that includes sea kayaking among dolphins and sea lions, a guided walk on Penguin Island, snorkelling (seasonal), and a picnic lunch.
