First a Few Tips
When planning a Perth fruit farm visit, get in touch with the venue first, by calling or checking their website or Facebook page, to find out when they’re open for fruit picking. The ideal days to pick your own fruit in Perth vary depending on conditions and crop size, so most farms will keep visitors informed week by week about availability.
Other questions to ask: Do we have to book? Is there an entrance fee, and how much do you charge for the fruit we pick? Do you have EFTPOS facilities? Do you provide containers or bags?
Note that some farms don’t allow prams and strollers, and in some cases there’s a lot of walking to do; you’ll definitely need comfy shoes and sunscreen!
Bear in mind, too, that you might be carrying heavy boxes or bags of fruit for a while. It’s a good idea to take some small containers for young children to use. Fruit picking can be tiring, but it’s one of the most enjoyable things to do in Perth on a balmy autumn day, and the kids will sleep well afterwards too!
