Morning

Rise and shine for a big breakfast.  Breakfast may be included as part of your hotel booking, so be sure to take advantage of the savings.

From e-scooters to bikes, and even kayaks, About Bike Hire has plenty of ways to see the Swan River. Why not hire a tandem to cycle around the Swan River? A bicycle that’s made for two is a perfect mode of transport for a romantic weekend. It’s also cheaper than hiring two separate bikes – that’s smart saving! The popular “bridges” ride takes you on a flat 10km river loop over the Causeway Bridge, along the South Perth Foreshore, then pedal back to the city via the Narrows Bridge.

Afternoon

Park your bike at Elizabeth Quay and enjoy a casual lunch at one of the many taste bud tempting dining options. Think pub grub at the always faithful Lucky Shag, food with a city view at The Island (which is also home to the Little Island Brewing Co) or insanely huge burgers and adults-only milkshakes at the vibing Milky Lane, found at Barrack Square.

Walk off your lunch with a spot of shopping in and around Perth’s malls. You don’t need to spend up big – window shopping is just as fun. Browse the boutiques of historic London Court and the Piccadilly Arcade or hit the high street favourites along the Hay Street Mall. Why not take a wander down one of the city’s many hidden laneways for a DIY walking tour. Wolf Lane is a great spot to seek out, and it’s brimming with huge, vibrant murals by local and international street artists, plus a bar or two.

For a cheap and very cheerful dinner, hop across the Horseshoe Bridge to Northbridge. Choose from a world of authentic international cuisines, from the laneway eateries of Chinatown to hawker-style street eats of Old Shanghai to bustling Indian, Japanese and Vietnamese restaurants, like Viet Hoa.

Push the boat out a little further and chow down on small plates at popular wine bar No Mafia Pasta e Vino. A $49 Southern Italian set menu will have your hunger satisfied, with artisan bread, olives, arancini and prosciutto to share. Choose a pasta dish each, like a rich maccheroni with pork sausage, or tasty tagliolini calamari and you’re sorted! The courtyard of the William Street spot is a great place to people watch, over a glass of Italian wine, of course.

After you’ve hit the bullseye, head next door to the cellar door of Whipper Snapper Distillery. The East Perth distillery was founded a decade ago, by ardent whiskey drinkers, brother in-laws Alasdair Malloch and Jimmy McKeown. Here, taste the world’s best corn whiskey on a Whisky Flight, or why not delve a little deeper into the spirit making process on a fascinating distillery tour. Top your weekend off with a journey from grain to bottle or sip small batch whisky at a masterclass.
