The Swan Valley may be best known for cellar doors, long lunches and rolling vineyards, but many of its most memorable foodie finds come in smaller, snack-sized stops.

Dotted between wineries, the region’s artisans craft everything from golden, gooey honey to specialty drinks, fresh bakes, hand-pulled nougat and chocolate quokkas.

Behind many of the Swan Valley’s best artisan stops are family stories, small-batch production and a distinctly local touch. If a day trip with a side of grazing is your goal, these Swan Valley artisan makers are well worth a taste.

Tasty Bites

The House of Honey

The House of Honey is always buzzing with whatever’s fresh from the hives. Honey is the hero here, with shelves lined with different varieties including jarrah and karri (giving a unique WA flavour), alongside honeycomb, gourmet preserves, beeswax candles, to health and beauty products. Linger at The Sticky Spoon Café for a scoop of honey ice cream paired with lemon and ginger-infused honey tea, or sip mead at the cellar door. Visitors can delve deeper into the honey-making process on the unique Shadow a Beekeeper tour, following the journey from hive to jar.

Mondo Nougat

Established by the Romeo family, Mondo Nougat remains one of the Swan Valley’s signature sweet stops. Visitors can watch silky nougat being stretched and pulled through a glass viewing window, before sampling the finished product. This Swan Valley staple creates all sorts of flavour combos, including the popular cranberry and pistachio soft nougat, plus plenty of small batch releases. Generously studded with nuts and fruit, you’ll want to take a bag of this soft, chewy nougat home – that’s if you can resist eating it in the car.

Right next door to Mondo Nougat is Morish Nuts, which complements the nougat perfectly. Known for its roasted nuts, sweet coatings and savoury snack blends, the local favourite comfortably covers all bases for sweet and savoury lovers. From crunchy peanut brittle to boldly seasoned mixes (abalone macadamias, anyone?), Morish lives up to its name. Together, Mondo Nougat and Morish Nuts make one of the Swan Valley’s best back-to-back foodie stops.

Keller's Farm

The evolution of Keller’s Farm's modest farm stall into a much-loved weekend institution perfectly captures the Swan Valley’s sense of community. Beneath the weathered, rusty tin roof, visitors will find freshly picked Swan Valley produce, alongside a much-loved range of freshly baked goods. The wood-fired sourdough flies off the shelves, while handmade cinnamon scrolls are a popular choice. Part of the charm lies in the changing offering, shaped by the seasons and whatever is coming out of the oven that weekend.

Funk Brewshed

Funk Brewshed is best known for its alcoholic drops, but there is more to the story than beer and cider. Run by the Michael brothers, they produce a delicious line-up of non-alcoholic options including preservative-free cold-pressed juices and craft sodas made on-site. The crafty crew often gets a little experimental with flavours. For a squiz behind the scenes, hop on a Cidery and Brewery Tour to see where the magic happens. The brewshed is also a strong lunch option, with quality, shareable plates.
