Looking for a plan to kick off your weekend? Or just wondering what's the best way to see Claremont? Luckily for you, we've mapped out our ideal day in Claremont.
The area is not only a thriving social scene, but also features nature conservation spaces, plenty of retail shopping, and vibrant art displays. So whether you're a Perth local or just visiting for the day, we've included a bit of everything in our itinerary.
Take a morning walk in nature
First, kick off your morning with a visit to FORM Gallery & Cafe for a coffee and a gallery stroll. Formerly known as The Goods Shed, FORM is a beautiful, non-profit creative art space that regularly showcases local exhibitions and features a cosy outdoor cafe with a garden area. The gallery is tucked conveniently close to the train station and parking.
After breakfast, take a leisurely walk to Lake Claremont - a conservation wetland is only a short distance from the Claremont Town Centre and is abundant with bird life, especially between August and January. There is a casual 2.5km loop trail surrounding the lake with large shady trees and dog exercise areas. It's the perfect location if you're looking for a good picnic or birdwatching spot. Keep an eye out for species like black swans and pink-eared ducks, and if you’re visiting during spring, you’ll be treated to blooming wildflowers.
Lunch time, brunch time
When lunchtime rolls around, head to Izakaya Gin, a local favourite offering an authentic Japanese pub experience. The cozy setting is ideal for relaxing over delicious bites, hearty meals, and a great selection of drinks - perfect for unwinding after work or catching up with friends. If you’re after something a little more laid-back, Moose Café in the heart of Claremont serves up Swedish-inspired food and groceries in a warm, family-friendly atmosphere.
Explore the art trail
One of our favourite ways to get to know Claremont is to explore the Claremont Public Art Trail, a self-guided walking tour showcasing a mix of sculptures, murals and mosaics scattered around the locale. You can view the public art trail map online or download the Town Centre Public Art Trail to guide your journey. It's a great way to stumble upon all kinds of boutiques, cafes and local shops in the area that you may not have explored previously. The trail can take up to 2 hours in full, but you can start at any point and walk in either direction to explore what you feel like.
Arvos at The Claremont Hotel
Take a well-deserved break at the historic Claremont Hotel, an iconic institution that’s been welcoming locals since 1886. The multi-storey venue has been beautifully renovated in recent years and features multiple spaces to fit whatever you're in the mood for. Sink a pint and watch the footy at the public bar, enjoy the family-friendly courtyard, dine in the restaurant or unwind with cocktails on the sunny rooftop bar. The venue has a packed schedule and often hosts live music and events throughout the year, so check their schedule if you want to plan an extra special something to your day.
