Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery

Maalinup Aboriginal Gallery specialises in colourful, contemporary fine art by Indigenous artists from the South West of Western Australia. Found on the banks of the Swan River/Derbarl Yerrigan at Mandoon Estate, this gallery offers an introduction to Indigenous art and culture through expressive works deeply connected to place. Here Dale and Lyall Tilbrook are your knowledgeable hosts, and smaller works by emerging artists are also on show, making art accessible to all.

Village Art Gallery

At the Village Art Gallery, in Whiteman Park, locally made pieces and artisan craftsmanship shine. Browse works from across different mediums by a collective of the Valley’s creative community. There’s everything from fine art to handcrafted treasures to take home. Art classes for all abilities are held throughout the year.

Run by the Whiteman Park Craft Association, Whiteman Park Handcraft is keeping skills like embroidery and woodworking alive. This crafty crew creates everything from hand-painted glasswork to award-winning homemade jams and pickles. You’re sure to find a unique gift here.

Bonnie's World

Bonnie’s World, on Guildford’s bustling antique strip, is a playful art gallery by artist Bonnie Atlan. Brimming with personality, her work draws inspiration from the hues of Western Australia’s vast landscapes. Bonnie’s World is quirky and unexpected, with glass mosaic lamps, jewellery and crystal paperweights adding to the stunning collection of prints and original works.

Swan Valley Studios

Guildford Village Potters Club

Take a peek inside a working studio and watch the creative process on display. Right next door to the Swan Valley Visitor Centre is Guildford Village Potters Club. The creative studio is a hub for ceramic artists who make raku, fine tableware, sculptural pieces and more. Drop by the ever-changing gallery, book a class to learn the art of wheel-thrown pottery, or enjoy a kids’ school holiday workshop.

Bright Press

Working letterpress studio, Bright Press, adds another texture to the local arts offering. The printmakers celebrate the craft of print through a process that is both precise and expressive. A visit to this Whiteman Park spot reveals the beauty in method as much as in the finished work – the tools, the layers, and the patience required for each piece.

Illusionary Art

These mind-boggling creations must be seen to be believed! Illusionary Art is a quirky change of pace from the more traditional gallery experience. Thomas Maurer crafts unique three-dimensional optical illusions with an angle grinder and a flat sheet of aluminium. Stop by his Herne Hill studio and watch the works shift before your eyes.

Sculptures, Murals & Swan Valley Museums

Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park

The Swan Valley’s artistic treasures aren’t limited to indoor spaces. Some of its most memorable creative experiences unfold outdoors, where art interacts with gardens and architecture. Gomboc Gallery Sculpture Park invites visitors to wander among 100 indoor and outdoor sculptures created from a diverse range of materials by established local, national and international sculptors. There’s an ease to exploring art in the open air, and Gomboc makes the most of that, pairing visual drama with a strong sense of place.

Swan Valley Station

For art with a side of coffee, head to Swan Valley Station. As well as a nursery and animal farm, the marron lake is home to an easy, accessible sculpture trail, which kids will especially enjoy. Along the way, the pathway is dotted with over $300,000 worth of life-size and oversized kangaroos, frilled-neck lizards, pelicans, a magnificent boab tree, and more.

Museums of Whiteman Park

If you love a mural, head to the museums of Whiteman Park. These three museums are fascinating for what lies inside, but also, for art lovers, what’s painted on the walls outside. On the exterior of The Motor Museum of Western Australia, there’s a homage to the state’s motoring greats by Fremantle artist Jacob "Shakey" Butler. The black and white piece honours legendary drivers from all eras, including Formula One legend Daniel Ricciardo. A short walk away, the Tractor Museum of WA is adorned with a colourful mural painted by artist PJ Hannagan, of Whiteman Park's native fauna and local farming life. PJ aka ‘Mural Nomad’ is behind the stunning sunset mural at the Woodland Reserve Interpretive Centre, inspired by the popular Nocturnal Woylie Walk tours.
