Once the historic Fremantle Police Headquarters, the iconic building has been reimagined as Garde - a new gatekeeper to the heart of Fremantle's history, food, and culture.
Honouring its storied past while embracing a new chapter, Garde offers a curated collection of beautifully designed rooms and suites across the main hotel and the heritage-listed Warders Cottages. With the opening of 83 new rooms and suites, together with the existing Warders Cottages, Garde now offers a total of 106 rooms – each reflecting Fremantle's distinct character and heritage. Guests can also enjoy a new spa and wellness offering, completing the hotel’s vision of blending heritage charm with contemporary comfort.
At the heart of Garde sits Anglesea, a luxurious ground-floor restaurant named after the Marquis of Anglesea, a vessel tied to Fremantle's colonial past. Here, bold Japanese and Korean flavours meet premium local produce, served in a space that reflects Fremantle’s creative spirit through warm, layered interiors. Anglesea's refined seasonal menus celebrate dishes such as Wagyu beef, dry-aged salmon, and delicate sashimi, inviting guests to linger over a full-course dining experience or simply stop in for a casual drink.
The Warders Hotel, long celebrated for its heritage charm, has now rebranded as part of Garde. This transition signals the enduring connection between both properties and marks the beginning of a new chapter in Fremantle’s accommodation story. Steeped in history yet brimming with new energy, Garde is more than a place to stay – it’s a destination where Fremantle’s vibrant spirit unfolds around every corner.
