The Exchange Hotel in Pinjarra has been crowned the winner of the Country WA category in the 2026 AHA & Little Creatures WA's Best Steak Sandwich competition.
The annual competition celebrates one of Australia’s most iconic pub meals, with finalists selected through public voting and mystery judge visits before competing in a live cook-off.
Created by David Brown, the award-winning steak sandwich features chargrilled Midway Farm scotch fillet, smoked aged Tasmanian cheddar, caramelised onion and bacon jam, pickles, beetroot, buttercup lettuce and aioli on brioche, served with chips. Judges praised the sandwich for its use of locally sourced beef from Midway Farm in West Pinjarra.
The competition, now in its 19th year, recognises standout steak sandwiches from venues across Western Australia in both metropolitan and regional categories.
