Perth-based immersive entertainment company Escape This has received international recognition for its Hotel Murder Mystery experience, taking first place in the Escape Rooms and Puzzle Experiences category at the 2026 Immersive Experience Awards.
The experience also received a Highly Commended recognition in the Production and Craft category. Located at Escape This in Perth's CBD, Hotel Murder Mystery combines an escape room with a murder mystery, transporting players to a 1920s Paris hotel where they have been framed for murder. Participants must investigate clues and suspects to determine the murder weapon, where the crime took place and the identity of the real culprit.
The experience incorporates cinematic sets, lighting and sound throughout the investigation, with clues integrated into the surrounding environment. A specially engineered lift uses sound, vibration and hidden set movement to create the illusion of travelling between floors as players progress through the hotel. Around 10,000 guests have experienced Hotel Murder Mystery since it opened last year.
Founded in Perth in 2020, Escape This now operates five venues across Perth, Sydney and Melbourne and has welcomed half a million players across Australia.
