The Perth Mint has undergone some light renovations and updates to our Melting House.
The new and improved experience enhances the accessibility, visibility and flexibility of our gold pouring demonstrations. The tour is available 7 days a week from 9:30am to 2:30pm, with additional tours scheduled for school holidays. The new furnace is the centrepiece of a wider upgrade to the Melting House, including:
- New workstation for demonstrations
- New balustrading – replacing the wooden fencing with glass panels
- Built-in audio system for sound effects and crisper presentations
- Updated displays.
Veronica Wilson, Manager Visitor Services planned the project for over a year and shared her thoughts on the upgrades.
"The gold pour is often the most memorable part of The Perth Mint experience, for new and returning visitors alike," she said. "The upgrades improve every aspect of the experience including accessibility, like the glass panels which will provide unobstructed viewing for all visitors."
