Armadale

Minnarwarra Park, Armadale

Start your day with a 40-minute drive south-east of Perth City to Armadale - nestled among rolling hills and stunning scenery, Armadale offers plenty to explore. Stop in at the Perth Hills Armadale Visitor Centre to pick up maps and guides to help plan your visit.

Discover the natural beauty of Araluen Botanic Park, meet local wildlife at the Armadale Reptile Centre, or enjoy scenic bushwalks through Bungendore Park or Armadale Settlers Common, which come alive with wildflowers in spring. Then head to Minnawarra Park, where you can step back in time at the History House Museum and Bert Tyler Vintage Machinery Museum, and wander among the park's historic landmarks and tranquil surrounds.

Serpentine-Jarrahdale

Millbrook Winery, Jarrahdale

Continue your journey along the South Western Highway to Serpentine-Jarrahdale. Once a thriving milling town, Jarrahdale is now a charming place to pause for morning tea at a local café, admire the historic buildings, and browse the arts and craft galleries. History lovers can also visit the Old Post Office Museum, or step back into the region's agricultural past at the Hugh Manning Tractor & Machinery Museum. Nature enthusiasts will enjoy exploring Serpentine National Park, home to jarrah forests, scenic walking tracks, the iconic Serpentine Falls - a popular spot to take in the park's natural beauty. For a more immersive experience, join a guided walking tour with Off The Beaten Track WA, who offer unique hikes through the area's stunning landscapes.

If time permits, head south of Jarrahdale to the picturesque Millbrook Winery, set on historic Chestnut Farm and surrounded by untouched jarrah forest. Known for its small-batch, quality wine production, the winery's tasting room offers a superb range of wines to sample or purchase by the glass or bottle, with panoramic views of the rolling countryside as your backdrop.

Pinjarra

Continue south to Pinjarra, one of WA's oldest towns. Stop for lunch at a riverside pub or café before exploring the Edenvale Heritage Precinct and historic Old Blythewood. Stroll across the Pinjarra Suspension Bridge and discover local creativity along the Pinjarra Art Trail. Families will also enjoy Ranger Red's Zoo & Conservation Park, with close encounters with native and exotic animals.

Dwellingup

Head south-east along Pinjarra Williams Road to Dwellingup, where the Bibbulmun Track and Munda Biddi Trail meet. Start at the Dwellingup Trails and Visitor Centre for maps and advice, then choose from bushwalking, cycling or an outdoor experience with Dwellingup Adventures. For a thrill, try the high ropes and ziplines at Treetops Adventure – Dwellingup, or take it easier with the Dwellingup Art Trail and the Forest Discovery Centre. Families will love the Hotham Valley Tourist Railway, offering a scenic ride through towering jarrah forest, while nearby Lane Poole Reserve is perfect for swimming, canoeing and picnics along the Murray River.

With so much on offer, Dwellingup is a great place to stay the night before returning to Perth via Albany Highway.
