It's school holiday time - does it get any better?
It can be hard deciding what to do during the school holidays in Perth, not because there isn't much to choose from, but because there is too much! We've narrowed it down to five fun things to do with kids!
1. Enjoy an art & craft workshop
Sign the kids up for something creative with one of the Fremantle Arts Centre kids art courses. The program has plenty of great options with courses in animation, game design, creative clay, drawing, sewing, printmaking, urban art and more! Does your little one love pirates? Then stay in Freo for some swashbuckling adventures at the WA Museum - Maritime and WA Museum - Shipwreck Galleries.
The Art Gallery of Western Australia also has fun school holiday activities.
2. Get up close to local wildlife
Perth Zoo offers Keeper Kids and Zoo Crew school holiday programs for all the animal loving kids in WA. Starting as young as pre-primary, participants can help care for Zoo animals through some exciting keeper duties, meet some of the Zoo’s most treasured animals up close, and adventure into special access areas.
Ranger Red’s Zoo and Conservation Park also offer a range of encounters and experiences to delight the kids all year round. Children and young teens can experience the life of a professional zookeeper for a day, with a junior program suitable for wildlife enthusiasts from 8 to 16 years of age.
3. Beat the heat indoors
Whether you're eager to engage and inspire the young ones or seeking a fun daytime adventure for your inner child, Scitech ensures an enjoyable scientific experience suitable for all ages. This season, they're featuring diverse interactive displays. Among them is 'Human Potential,' delving into how technology advancements and medical breakthroughs have revolutionised the way we live, opening new possibilities and making the world a more inclusive place.
Or, experience an immersive VR gaming adventure at Ready Team One. Each game session spans 35 minutes and accommodates groups of up to 12 individuals aged 13 and above. Whether battling extraterrestrial creatures or helping a talking toucan free an island from an evil curse, an array of game genres await.
4. Adventure on the water
Get the family together for an awesome trip through Mandurah's waterways, onboard the Pirate Ship Mandurah. You'll cruise past canals where dolphins play, and fancy mansions line the shore. Kids can even take the wheel, steer the ship, and have a blast with water cannons!
For the ultimate day trip, jump aboard with Rottnest Fast Ferries, Rottnest Express or SeaLink Rottnest Island, who all offer Kids Travel Free* deals for transport to Perth’s favourite holiday island. This is sure to be a hit for the whole family! *Terms and conditions apply.
5. Visit your favourite Perth attraction
Featuring Dragon's Kingdom, a dedicated kids zone with 8 attractions perfect for little ones, plus the ever popular Kahuna Falls and Australian Wildlife experience, and endless lawn to stretch out on, Adventure World is the ultimate family holiday experience.
Take the kids to see one of the largest musical instruments on Earth - The Bell Tower. And there's an even better reason to go these school holidays – with $5 Kids Tours – The Bell Tower Chiming Experience.
Take the kids to the Fremantle Prison these school holidays - they are guaranteed to have fun while learning about this amazing site. If your children are aged over 12 and love adventure, then go on an underground tunnels tour or go on the kids' only Prison Escape! Tour.
