The Kep Track 

Distance 75km | Difficulty Easy
The multi-use Kep Track uses the rail formation between Mundaring to Northam and can be followed by foot, bike or on horse-back. It is aligned to the Golden Pipeline Drive Trail, which continues from Mundaring Weir to Kalgoorle. You'll find trail heads at Mundaring Weir and Northam and multiple access points along the way. It passes through Mundaring, Sawyers Valley, Mount Helena, Wundowie, Bakers Hills and Clackline. Find out more.

The Bibbulmun Track 

Distance 1000km from Perth to Albany | Start Kalamunda, north east of Perth
The Bibbulmun Track is one of the world's great long distance walk trails, stretching nearly 1000kms from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany. It winds through some of the most beautiful natural areas of the State's south west and is easily accessible, passing through seven rural communities and popular tourist destinations. Find out more.

Railway Reserves Heritage Trail 

Distance 41km loop | Difficulty Easy
This trail follows the route of the old Eastern Railway, passing through quaint hills towns and covering a wide range of terrains with scenic views and numerous points of historical and natural significance. The trail spans from Bellevue to Wooroloo and can be joined at various access points. It can be travelled in half a day to day sections or over several days and is well signposted with distances and elevation charts. Find out more.

Araluen Botanic Garden Walks

  • Contour Board Walk: Distance 800m - suitable for wheelchairs. The path takes you from the viewing platform across the western hill crossing the creek at Westrek Bridge and continuing to the Chalet Healy. The walk is easily accessible for visitors as a boardwalk takes the path over the steeper sections.
  • Three Bridges Walk: Distance 1km - suitable for wheelchairs. This trail takes walkers along a hard clay path and over three bridges. During springtime daffodils and other flowers line the walk plus many flowering plants and shrubs. The walk follows Stinton Creek, which is a permanent flowing watercourse.
  • Heritage Walk: Distance 600m - not suitalbe for wheelchairs. This easy walk trail takes you past heritage buildings and old structures, such as Totterdell Cottage built in 1931. This walk is an interactive walk and great for children to learn more about the plants in Araluen.
  • Bush Walk: Distance: 1km - 3km - not suitable for wheelchairs. This walk takes you through the undeveloped area of Araluen Botanic Park. This is a hard walk which has steep trails and limited signage. The bush area features some unusual rock formations and wildflowers. This walk is from one to three kilometres and is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Syd's Rapids and Aboriginal Heritage Walk Trails 

Distance 6.4km return | Time 3 hours | Difficulty Easy
These family-friendly walk trails, located where the Walyunga National Park joins the Swan River (40km north east of Perth), provide interpretation on the indigenous history, plants and animals and the history of white water rafting in this beautiful region. The 5.2km Syd’s Rapids Trail leaves from Boongarup Pool and is a flat easy walk up to the rapids - fantastic for rafting and canoeing. The easy 1.2km Aboriginal Heritage Trail meanders along the river bank, between Walyunga Pool and Boongarup Pool, and allows people to learn about Aboriginal myths and legends and see the park's plants and animals through the eyes of the original inhabitants. Find out more.

Perth Hills Eagle View Walk 

Distance 15km loop | Time 5-6 hours | Difficulty Moderate
This walk around John Forrest National Park, offers great views across the Swan Coastal Plain to the city and ocean in the distance. The trail is a bushwalkers delight, covering a variety of pristine habitats, passing beautiful waterfalls and wildflower displays in Spring. Signs every 2km advise how far you've travelled and Hovea Falls is pretty for a picnic lunch when the water is flowing. Entry fee to National Park applies. Find out more

Lesmurdie Falls Bush Walk 

Distance 2km | Time 1-2 hours | Difficulty Moderate
Lesmurdie Falls, located in the Lesmurdie Falls National Park, are one of the more spectacular waterfalls on the Darling Range escarpment. The trail starts at the top of the falls with a short walk to the viewing platform. For a longer walk follow the trail to the base of the falls where the lush vegetation grows. Best in winter and spring, the trail follows Lesmurdie Brook until it reaches a bridge at the top of the falls where a look out provides stunning views across the falls and to the city on clear days. Find out more

The Mount Dale Walk Trail 

Distance 2.5km | Time 1-2 hours | Difficulty Moderate
This trail follows the contours of Mount Dale to its peak, where walkers enjoy panoramic views of the Darling Ranges. Venture through beautiful jarrah forest taking in the sights of Mount Cooke to the south and the farmlands to the east. The lower recreation site at Mount Dale provides a pleasant spot for family picnics and the area is prolific with wildflowers in spring and wildlife. Kitty's Gorge Walk Trail

Kitty's Gorge Walk Trail is a beautiful walk accessible from the historic town of Jarrahdale, an idea day trip from Perth. The trail follows the Serpentine River and Gooralong Brook and passes impressive granite outcrops and the Brook's many waterfalls. It has steep loose sections and uneven ground, so requires a degree of fitness and can be accessed from the carpark opposite the cemetery or in the National Park. Find out more.

Macora Walk Trail

Distance: 1.6km | Time: 40 minutes | Difficulty: Moderate
The Macora Walk Trail in the Byford Hills begins adjacent to a winter / spring creek and waterfall which has been named Marcora Falls (pronounced Marcoray). The steep slopes and divisive gullies of this area are home to a rich diversity of flora and fauna. The granite outcrops are believed to be the oldest rock known to man, over 400 million years old. Find out more.

Serpentine Falls - The Falls Walk Trail

Distance: 400m | Difficulty: Easy
The Falls Walk Trail is a 400m walk from the Serpentine Falls carpark. The walk is basically a gravel road which is not accessible to vehicles and leads to a viewing platform for the Falls. There is also access to the Serpentine Falls from the viewing platform. The walk takes you through bush surroundings, with rocky outcrops. The carpark has toilets, barbecues, tables and shaded areas. Find out more.

Mundlimup Timber Trails

Distance: 2.5 - 3.5km | Time: 1 hour | Difficulty: Easy
This walking trail is situated 55km south of Perth via Jarrahdale Road and Balmoral Road and features a history of logging and silviculture, passing through a fine example of jarrah forest. Starting from the Mundimup Recreation Site, the trail crosses the bridge over the old railway formation to a small dieback-infected area. It then continues through old sawpit area, where walkers can see evidence of old logging operations. Find out more.

Jarrahdale Heritage Railway Walk Trail

Distance: 7km | Time: 2 hours | Difficulty: Easy
The Jarrahdale Railway Heritage walk trail follows the old railway line built in 1872. Starting in Jarrahdale at Nettleton Road it is a leisurely walk through Jarrah and Wandoo woodlands and undulating farmland. Wildflowers abound in season and the views are magnificent. Walkers are reminded to organise transport at the Pruden Road end (on the south west highway near the Alcoa Line Bridge) to return to their cars. The walk can be extended a further kilometre down the highway to the Whitby Falls Coach House.

Baldwins Bluff Nature Trail

Distance: 6km return | Difficulty: Easy
This walking trail is located in the Serpentine National Park, 50km south east of Perth. Baldwins Bluff is a large granite outcrop on a north-facing part of the Darling Scape and at 180m gives amazing views. Starting at the information board near the carpark, walkers pass through areas of redgum and wandoo forest on the ascent and the trail features a variety of plant and bird species and scenic views.

Kalamunda Railway Heritage Cycle Trail

Distance: 6.57km | Time: full day | Difficulty: Moderate

Looking for a short, easy ride for your non riding partner or friends? Somewhere for the kids to have a ride? This 6 km long trail with a small friendly Hills village in the middle makes an ideal option.

Mason and Bird Heritage Cycle Trail

Distance: 7km loop | Difficulty: Moderate

The Mason and Bird Heritage Trail follows the route of an 1870's tram way from Mason Mill to the Swan River. A fascinating ride that passes one of the earliest Mill sites in Perth, the oldest all-wooden bridge in Australia (still with wooden rails for the horse tramway) and the original source of Perth's drinking water.

Armadale Heritage Walk

This easy walk trail takes you past heritage buildings and old structures, such as Totterdell Cottage built in 1931. This walk is an interactive walk and great for children to learn more about the plants in Araluen. This walk is 600 metres long and is not suitable for wheelchairs.

Jarrahdale Heritage Town Walk

Situated in the Jarrah forests of the Darling Scarp, there is much to see and do in Jarrahdale - originally established as a milling town with a number of historial buildings and galleries. This award winning guided walk start at the Old Post Office Museum, 631 Jarrahdale Road, unless stated otherwise. All walks guided by experienced and knowledgable volunteers from the Jarrahdale Heritage Society, Inc. Maps for walks can be picked up from the Old Post Office Museum.

Jarrahdale Railway Heritage Trail

This 7km trail follows the old railway line built in 1872 to cart the timber from the mills of Jarrahdale to the port of Rockingham from where it was shipped overseas or up to Perth. Starting in Jarrahdale at Nettleton Road is a leisurely two hour walk through Jarrah and Wandoo woodlands and undulating farmland. Wildflowers abound in season and the views are magnificent. Walkers are reminded to organise transport at the Pruden Road end (on the south west highway near the Alcoa Line Bridge) to return to their cars. The walk can be extended a further kilometre down the highway to the Whitby Falls Coach House.

Mundijong Main Street Historical Walk

Originally named Manjedal, the town of Mundijong was formed around a railway junction of the Rockingham-Jarrahdale and the Perth-Bunbury line in 1893. A timber depot and a large planing mill was constructed, together with a post office and railway station. Buildings on this heritage trail include The Old Mundijong Hotel (often called The Serpentine Hotel) the Road Board Building, the Mundijong School, Methodist Church, Mundijong Post Office, the new Mundijong Hotel, Wholaglans original timber bakehouse, and the Railway Station and stockyards.
