Perth’s best LEGO® builders will bring six Fremantle icons to life, straight from the imaginations of local children, as part of a free community event during the July school holidays.
The ‘Freo Builds Trail’ will guide families to six locations to discover Fremantle through the eyes of children, as they locate colourful LEGO® builds and unique keywords, to complete the trail, collect a free LEGO® toy and go into a draw to win great prizes.
The ‘Freo Builds Trail’ builds on the success of previous school holiday events, which have attracted and entertained visitors to Fremantle.
Walyalup Koort, at the heart of Fremantle, will be a vibrant activity centre throughout the July break, with giant outdoor games, DJs, a trackless train, face painting, giant chalks and a visit from the Toyworld mascot. A ‘creation station’ at Walyalup Koort will provide a space for children to take part in imaginative activities, including workshops by Spare Parts Puppet Theatre, Michael Alvares and FunLab, while the Fremantle Library will host a variety of student-focused activities, including nature play, gamers workshops and a visit from SciTech.
Families who visit Fremantle during the school holidays will also be able to take part in other events and activities, run by local businesses, and take advantage of special offers for food, attractions and more. Those who vote for their favourite design and build could win a PRIZE.
Building is currently underway by some of Perth’s best LEGO® builders to transform the imaginative designs of six children into 3-dimensional artwork. The children were finalists in the City of Fremantle’s latest creative competition, which asked students from local schools to imagine Fremantle icons in different ways. Visitors who complete the trail can vote for their favourite build and the student whose build attracts the most votes will win The Ultimate Kids’ Excursion to Fremantle.
The ‘Freo Builds Trail’ will run between Monday 4 July to Sunday 17 July.
