Top Perth Coastal Spots - North of the River

Perth’s picture-perfect coastline isn’t just the subject of postcards, it’s the stuff of dreams, and we’re lucky to have gorgeous white sand beaches and the sparkling blue ocean on our doorstep. There’s really such a different atmosphere between Mullaloo and Cottesloe, Trigg and Scarborough, that you can really find a beach that’s just what you’re looking for - or beach-hop till you drop! And it’s never been easier or more stylish to explore the Sunset Coast in style on the Sunset Coast Explorer, a fabulous open-top weekend bus starting at Whitfords Public Library and running throughout summer to/from Hillarys Boat Harbour, North Beach and Scarborough.

While you’re at Hillarys, you won’t want to miss a trip to AQWA, Perth’s world-class aquarium, where you can get up close to WA's spectacular marine life as you go on an underwater journey along our coast. Or head over to Scarborough Beach, where you can shop up a storm at the Summer X Salt Market (weekends until 19 March 2022) and Scarborough Sunset Markets (Thursdays until 28 April 2022), or learn to surf at the Scarborough Beach Surf School.

And of course, heading over to Rottnest Island has been a firm favourite for generations of Perth day trippers! There’s more on the island to do than ever - from renting a pedal board, paddle board or waterbike from Aquaplay Rottnest, to seeing Rotto in a whole new light by skydiving from up to 15,000 feet with Skydive Geronimo. And for a touch of luxe life, join Rottnest Cruises on their Luxe Island Seafood Cruise - Rottnest’s deluxe dining experience on the water!

And if you’re looking for something fun to do for NYE, Rottnest delivers -  enjoy live entertainment on the Thomson Bay Lawn from 3pm, and then at 9pm look skywards for spectacular fireworks display to welcome the new year. More info on the new year festivities here.

Top Perth Coastal Spots - South of the River

Rockingham and Mandurah are a slice of coastal paradise with a very different feel from the northern suburbs.

We love strolling around Mandurah’s relaxed, green and family-friendly foreshore, cruising down the the Venetian-inspired canals, and strolling around the immaculately manicured Dolphin Quay! And if you’re looking to rest, relax and rejuvenate, Mandurah’s just the place to make your worries seem a million miles away. Rent an Eco BBQ Boat and meander along Mandurah’s waterways - it’s such a casual, informal experience that you can share with a few people you love!

And the Mandurah Foreshore is transforming into a hub of wellness in February for Flow State: The Wellness Weekender (18 - 20 February 2022); the weekender brings together influential and inspiring wellness experts for a transformative and exciting experience.

Rockingham is a hidden gem, with unspoiled natural coastline, and marine life galore - it’s the perfect spot for scuba diving, dolphin encounters and more - Penguin Island is a must-do this time of year! Rockingham is another awesome spot to try skydiving, too - head to Skydive Perth Rockingham to get the details.
