Arts and cultural events
The warmer weather is upon us, and that means Rooftop Movies (4 November 2021 - 2 April 2022) is back! Cancel your couch plans, because Perth's favourite outdoor cinema destination returns with a summer program of your favourite movies. The producers of FRINGE WORLD Festival present an open-air cinema experience like no other: six stories high in the centre of the city, with panoramic city views for sunset drinks and eats before you settle in for your movie. With a great line-up of new and classic movies, this is an experience not to be missed!
Perth's favourite arts event, FRINGE WORLD Festival (14 January - 13 February 2022), have released their 2022 program offering something for everyone - from comedy, music and musicals, circus and much more. Check out the program of events here.
Feel like getting a bit fancy? There’s nothing like a high tea to add a spot of luxury to everyday life!
Head to Bar Uma at Pan Pacific Perth their Spring Garden Party High Tea (Weekends, until 1 December 2021). Indulge in an extensive range of teas, accompanied by twists on classic sandwiches, homemade scones with cream and jam, and a spring selection of treats, each one a tempting work of art. Or, enjoy a decadent Spring High Tea at Firewater Grill (Sundays, until 20 December 2021) at the Duxton Hotel Perth, featuring all your favourites - scones with jam and cream, delicate canapes and an assortment of sweet and savoury treats - served with exotic loose-leaf tea selection from the finest corners of the world and barista coffee, while the live harpist plays classical tunes.
Experience high tea in style with Mandurah Cruises aboard their Mandurah High Tea Cruise (various dates in November and December 2021). Enjoy a relaxing 2 hour cruise through Mandurah’s picturesque waterways while enjoying a scrumptious high tea. You'll encounter playful, wild dolphins, view vast wetlands abounding with bird life and cruise through the back yards of Mandurah’s luxury canal homes.
Looking for something a little different? The Marina, Mindarie are offering high tea with a poolside twist with High Pimms (Sundays, until 26 December 2021). Treat yourself to a delectable high tea with two hours of Pimms and Surfside sparkling - tea and coffee is available upon request - served with the Chef’s selection of scones, sandwiches and other savoury and sweet treats.
Weekend and Christmas markets
With Christmas just around the corner, it’s the perfect time to head to one of Perth’s gorgeous craft markets and pick up some cute knick knacks for your loved ones - or taste the flavours of the world at a food market!
Twilight Hawkers Market (Fridays, 19 November 2021 - 25 March 2022) is returning to Forrest Place every Friday during the warmer season, with international flavours and live music to brighten up the evening cityscape. Or enjoy delish food truck fare to the backdrop of an Indian Ocean sunset at the Scarborough Sunset Markets (Thursdays, 4 November 2021 - 28 April 2022).
Looking to support local artisans while picking up some gorgeous bespoke finds? WA’s biggest Christmas market Bazaar (3 - 5 December 2021) is back at the Fremantle Arts Centre. More than a market, it’s a celebration of handmade, quality craftsmanship, showcasing the work of 50 carefully-curated local designers, artists and makers.
Family friendly events
Explore the Sunset Coast with the family in style every weekend until 23 January 2022, courtesy of the free Sunset Coast Explorer! The Sunset Coast Explorer bus will run for 13 weeks over Spring and Summer, connecting the Sunset Coast between Whitfords and Scarborough, stopping at Hillarys and North Beach in between. The perfect outing for the whole family, you can soak up the spectacular views and sunshine on WA's only open top bus.
The Mandurah Christmas Lights Trail (1 December 2021 - 5 January 2022) is an awe-inspiring experience for all ages, with the city coming alight with Christmas spirit. A great way to explore the trail is with a Christmas Lights Cruise, to get the best views of 200+ houses along the canals that are lit up spectacularly. Book quickly, though - these sell out fast! Tour operators servicing this route include Mandurah Cruises, Pirate Ship Mandurah and Mandurah Houseboats; or rent a private boat from Eco BBQ Boats (no license required) or Mandurah Boat & Bike Hire (skipper’s ticket required).
For wallet-friendly Christmas fun, check out the aptly named The Magic of Christmas (24 November 2021 - 16 January 2022) at the picturesque Wanneroo Botanic Gardens. Throughout the festive season the gardens will transform into a Christmas wonderland.
Live music events
Music lovers are in for a treat, with the The Courtyard Club (Fridays, 5 November - 17 December 2021), presented by The State Theatre Centre of WA and RTRFM. Bringing live, local music into the heart of Northbridge, The Courtyard Club is the perfect place to start your weekend with friends. Enjoy free live radio with Vishnu from RTRFM and local music under the stars in the beautiful surrounds of the State Theatre Centre Courtyard.
In Fremantle, head to the Fremantle Arts Centre, where you can enjoy a spectacular line-up of live musicians for Sunday Music (Sundays, until March 2022) - bring your picnic basket, or enjoy some top-notch nosh from the food vendors and bar on-site.
Get into the festive spirit, when WASO transform RAC Arena into a massive cinema for one night only for Home Alone in Concert (10 December 2021). WASO will perform the charming and delightful score in full, alongside the film in its entirety. Relive the Christmas magic on the big screen while WASO performs John William’s incredible score live on stage!
Basketball fans, take note: the NBL has released its entire Perth Wildcats 2021/22 schedule, with the Perth Wildcats set to tip-off the season with a blockbuster Friday night game against the Brisbane Bullets at RAC Arena on 3 December. The team will be appearing for the first time since 2013 under a new coach, taking on the Brisbane Bullets at home on opening night. Get the details here!
If cricket is more your thing, The Perth Scorchers Big Bash League 2021/22 matches across summer have been released, including a Boxing Day blockbuster. The Scorchers begin their season against the Brisbane Heat on 8 December 2021, before facing the Adelaide Strikers three days later on 11 December 2021.
