Perth Royal Show

Perth Royal Show

The Perth Royal Show is Perth’s biggest and most iconic family-friendly event! With 101 free things to see and do, this is well and truly Perth’s ticket of the year! The team at the Royal Agricultural Society of WA are working to create THE event for Western Australia, returning with all your favourites: the Animal Nursery, competitions like Wood Chopping and Show Jumping, Taste WA, Sideshow Alley, rides and of course the fireworks. But the fun doesn’t stop there! There’s plenty of new FREE entertainment such as Freestyle Motocross, the opportunity to ride on a Monster Truck, Battle of the Bands, Minions Salute to Essential Workers Parade, PLUS an interactive Live Experience with Bluey and Bingo! All in all, an amazing day out that’s fantastic fun for young and old alike.

WA Museum Boola Bardip, Perth City

Secret agents and Greek warriors

As you can expect from Perth City’s world-class museums, there’s plenty of entertainment of the educational variety to choose from. Visit WA Museum Boola Bardip for a range of fun and educational activities inspired by their latest exhibit - Ancient Greeks: Athletes, Warriors and Heroes. At Scitech, the Top Secret: Licence to Spy Exhibition is an immersive secret agent mystery experience: the world's most powerful computer chip has been stolen from the Brainiac Corporation, containing highly classified information that could cause an international cybersecurity disaster. Your mission, should you choose to accept it: to work out who stole the chip – and why!

Beep! Toot! Honk! Adventure Trail, Fremantle

Getting creative in Fremantle

There’s always a ton of fun in Fremantle during the school holidays, and a great way to explore is the Beep! Toot! Honk! Adventure Trail. The streets will be filled with the sounds of happy kids beeping, tooting and honking their way around Fremantle as they hop on and off monster truck and big wheels bouncy castles, ride on a vintage kids fire truck, take a selfie with a giant monster truck and have a go on a retro car merry go round. The trail visits Walyalup Koort (formerly Kings Square), Henderson Street Mall near Fremantle Markets, WA Shipwrecks Museum and Fremantle Fishing Boat Harbour. At each location, there’s two activities to complete and one codeword to collect and record; collect all four codewords to enter the competition. What an exciting urban adventure!

You’ll find fun activities at the WA Maritime Museum, as part of the Brickwrecks LEGO exhibition. You can also construct a Titanic papercraft hat and make your own spinning thaumatrope, play games in the Shipwreck Adventure Zone, or take on a mission to 'find the archaeologists' with hidden LEGO® minifigures in the museum with the Shipwrecks and Shrink-rays trail activity.

For more hands-on creative fun, bring the kids to Fremantle Arts Centre for their legendary FAC school holiday art courses! Give little makers a chance to engage with artists and artmaking in the supportive environment of FAC’s studios, through structured workshops which emphasise fun, play and creative exploration. Choose from a vast array of courses suitable for younger kids (5-8) and older kids (9-12), including wooden mobile making, watercolour painting, pop art collage and even some special pre-Christmas classes. Take a look at the full suite of courses available online now but get in quick — they're sure to sell out!

Core Cider, Perth Hills

Countryside vibes

There’s nothing like the slow pace of countryside life in the Springtime to revitalise and reconnect with nature! Head to Core Cider, a cidery and orchard in the Perth Hills - the playgrounds will be ready for some serious playing. There's also plenty of space for the kids to play and run amuk on the Green and two playgrounds. Bring a picnic basket and enjoy fun for the whole family!

Enjoy a scenic drive north of the Swan Valley to picturesque Chittering, and visit The Orchard Perth for tractor rides, scavenger hunts, animal feeding, interactive kids shows and much more! There is also a cafe for snacks and coffee on-site, plus a fab kids nature playground. Online bookings are essential as this is sure to sell out.

A comfortable 1 hours drive inland from Midland, you’ll find the quaint heritage town of York - home to the super-exciting York Festival, taking place over the school holidays from 25 September - 10 October. Some highlights include umbrella painting, Lego workshops, the comedy antics of the Little HOO-HAA!, circus workshops with NeuroCircus, and the family-friendly sessions of the Festival’s first Writers Program.

Or for a truly back-to-nature experience, get off the beaten track by heading to The Bibbulmun Track! The Bibbulmun Track Foundation is hosting a Dr Dolittle Goes Bush, where little trekkers and their accompanying adult(s) will walk 2km to a typical Bibbulmun Track campsite and meet the friendly native creatures from Kanyana Wildlife Rehabilitation Centre. Watch their faces light up as they interact and learn about our native animals. Return following the Waugal trail markers at dusk - don't forget your torch!

Birdwatching, Mandurah

Birdwatching in Mandurah

WA’s largest regional city is known for its top-notch seafood and Venetian style canals, but what’s less known is that it’s home to a world-class bird habitat! This Spring, join Salt and Bush Eco Tours for a fun and FREE guided birdwatching walk departing the Mandurah Visitor Centre, and discover the different species of birds that love the Mandurah Waterways.
