Whether you’re into music, food, drinks, shopping, sport or all of the above, there’s so much going on in Perth this summer that you’ll be spoiled for choice, so we’ve picked some of our favourites that we’re most excited for - and we know you will be too.
The annual Perth FRINGE WORLD Festival is back in 2023!
Running from January 20 to February 19, FRINGE offers an incredible array of entertainment for everyone to enjoy, from comedy, music and musicals, circus and much, much more! It’s the perfect opportunity to get out and explore all the weird, wild and wonderful storytelling on offer across a whopping 436 shows at 90 venues - making it WA’s largest annual art event and the third largest Fringe on the planet!

Speaking of art, Perth Festival 2023 is a not-for-profit multi-arts festival that brings world class performance, music, film, visual arts and literary events to Perth every summer. Celebrate theatre, music, dance, opera, film, visual arts and literature with this incredible showcase of some of the best local talent on display. With the event running from February 10 to March 5, grab your tickets now to ensure you’ve got a front row seat to all your favourite shows! Superstar Björk presents her dazzling concert extravaganza Cornucopia exclusively in Perth and nowhere else in Australia this summer. Of course, there are plenty of other events going on this summer in Perth! There’s way too many to list, but here are a few more that we’re most excited about.
The annual Rooftop Movies have returned! Set six floors up, this car park turned cinema lets you bask in Perth’s balmy summer nights whilst enjoying a mix of blockbusters, new releases, and a sprinkling of cult classic films. Brought to you by ARTRAGE, the producers of FRINGE WORLD Festival, the popular pop-up movie destination is home to spectacular city sunset views, a rooftop bar, and drool-worthy eats from Huxaburger. Rooftop Movies runs from 4 November - 2 April 2023, with fresh flicks dropping every month.
Speaking of things you don’t want to miss, the Perth Scorchers Big Bash League is a must-attend for cricket lovers. Hosted at Optus Stadium, these still a couple of exciting matches to make the most of a night out in January. Check out the fixtures and book your tickets now.

Keen to keep it indoors on those hotter days? Imagine a world where nothing is impossible. Come with Alice on an adventure into Wonderland – an interactive exhibition that celebrates Lewis Carroll’s timeless stories and Alice’s adventures on film at the WA Museum Boola Bardip. Explore Alice’s journey from book to screen, through original picture books, magic lanterns, and more than 40 moving image, film and TV moments. Then join an immersive Mad Hatter’s Tea Party that comes alive with digital wizardry. Get lost in the Hallway of Doors, squeeze into a tiny house, climb a giant chair to peek into Alice’s room, and post your personalised soldier avatar on the Queen’s croquet ground. The closer you look, the more you’ll discover – not everything is what it seems!
Summer means fun in the sun, and what better way to cool down than the Cabana Pool Bar! Located at The Marina, Mindarie, the Cabana Pool Bar will transport you straight into holiday mode with resort inspired menus, creative cocktails, house music and an unbeatable atmosphere. There’s even popular weekly events, Friday Gin Club, Sparkling Saturday or Cocktail Hour Sunday to keep things interesting - just in case you were tempted for multiple visits (totally understandable). Drop by for a cocktail, or book to enjoy a meal or secure a daybed and dip in the pool.
The Scarborough Sunset Markets are back and running every Thursday night until April 27, so you have plenty of opportunities to head over for a visit to (almost) end the week. Thursdays are the new Fridays right? This season is bigger and better than ever, with over 100 foodies and retailers showcasing their mouth-watering cuisines, hand crafted artisanal delights, homemade doggy treats and so much more! Of course, there’s live music and some tasty drinks to enjoy as you watch the sun set too.
Fridays are for food - head over to Forrest Place in the city every Friday night until March for the Twilight Hawkers Market, the city’s biggest street food market. Showcasing Perth’s diverse food culture, tickle your tastebuds and try a variety of affordable cuisines from around the globe every Friday after work. The balmy atmosphere will put you in a good mood to enjoy good grub, festive entertainment and encourage you to explore our beautiful City at twilight. Food is served from 4:30pm until 9:30pm.
The Raft Perth has announced their inaugural Sail Away Sundays, running every Sunday until the end of April. With two options to choose from - their Bottomless Brunch or their Sunset Sessions - you’ll enjoy plenty of food, drinks and music all while taking in the stunning 360 degree views of the Swan River aboard their luxurious floating barge.
