The Orchard Perth is a premium events and experiences venue with so many holistic opportunities to experience the back-to-nature joy of rural life. As well as being renowned for their seasonal fruit picking experiences, they also offer tractor tours of the Orchard, idyllic private gourmet picnics on beautifully styled decks, and the on-site Golden Grove cafe dishing up delish coffees and light meals with in-season citrus fruit and local artisan goods available for purchase. There’s also a fabulous nature playground to keep the kids having fun, and a chance to get up close and personal with cuddly farm animals who you can pet and feed. 

Over at Little Eeden Farm Honey & Apiary, you're bound to make sweet memories: set on 100 beautiful rural acres, this apiary is a perfect place to sit among beautiful gardens with a variety of inquisitive birds as your guests as you taste the wonderful varieties of unprocessed natural honey on offer; they’ve infused bush honey with a variety of all natural ingredients resulting in some very delicious mixes. Over at the Hive Cafe, come and say hello to resident cook Mark who prepares all fresh homemade meals and cakes with delicious coffee and smoothies - yum!

Another wonderful spot to chill out and enjoy the rhythms of slow life is the Muchea Tree Farm, which specialises in Australian natives and proteaceae. Walk through the stunningly colourful display garden, or simply relax on a Thursday, Friday or Saturday in the new Coffee & Play Area whilst sipping organic coffee from local vendor Cup of Eden.

This self-guided food and adventure experience with a difference involves using your smartphone to solve clues and riddles. Food and Drink in Chittering

Home to the A Taste of Chittering Festival, the Nesci Estate Wine Farm is one of the oldest vineyards/wineries in the Chittering region.  The Wine Farm produces delicious wines, ports and liqueurs from more than a dozen grape varieties, grown on 60 acres of Chittering’s best grape growing soils.  In addition to the vineyard, it’s also a working cattle farm. Enjoy gourmet local produce platters to share, with a glass of wine or locally made beer or cider.  (Platters must be ordered in advance via Nesci Estate Wine Farm’s Facebook page).

Another top spot for delicious F&B is the Stringybark Winery, Restaurant & Function Centre, a great dining and event venue with a fully-licensed Restaurant (including WA craft beers).  Stringybark’s medal and trophy winning wines are amongst the very best from the region  with wines only available direct from the winery - you won’t be disappointed. Whether your favorite is fresh seafood, delicious duck, the very best lamb and beef dishes or tasty vegetarian, you’re in for a treat at Stringybark. Don’t forget to leave a little room for their special desserts made daily!

Places to Stay in Chittering

Moondyne Country Convention Centre is a stunning residential retreat originally only open as accomodation for business conventions - it’s now open to  the general public, and it’s truly an exceptional place to stay! Situated on a massive 1,800 acres of farmland, Moondyne is surrounded by the Avon Valley National Park, which means its positively teeming with wildlife – including birds, emus and kangaroos. The property also has over 6km of Avon River frontage with stunning views from the main buildings down across the valley, as well as designated walk trails to the river or to the escarpment. 

Accommodation can be found in one of several chalets (or bunkhouses) or individual rooms all with ensuites - beautifully, but rustically appointed. Two cottages are also available. Meals can be either self-catered in the cottages or in the under-cover BBQ area (with that full picnic basket of yours!), and catering is also available for groups of 10 or more.

Another great place to stay in Chittering is the secluded Alan & Eve's Eden B&B, nestled in 5 acres of bushland and surrounded by tall jarrah and marri trees. They specialise in country living at its most luxurious best; whenever possible, breakfasts are made from local produce grown on the property (and even farm-fresh eggs from the chickens!.) Relax in the outdoor spa, listen to beautiful birdsong, and watch kangaroos lazing and playing with their cute little joeys (who’re particularly gorgeous this time of year, as they venture out of the pouch for the first time!). Alan & Eve’s Eden also caters for special occasions to suit their guests’ needs; it’s the perfect place for romantic dinners by the fire listening to the crackle in the still of the night, or lunchtime gourmet picnics in the stillness of the bush.
