We're well into the heart of winter now, so if you're reading this while cocooned in a fortress of doonas while wearing a hooded blanket, we hear ya - it's bitter cold out there (at least by Perth standards). But tempting as it is to hibernate until Spring, Perth's restaurants are serving up hot stuff year round, with dishes delicious enough to tempt anyone. So calling all foodies, it's time to rug up in your winter woolies, and head out into the world - because these restaurants, from Perth City to Rottnest, Swan Valley to Mandurah, will warm you up heart and soul!

Located in the stunning Pickering Brook in the Swan Valley, Core Cider is the ultimate foodie destination this winter. Right now they are serving up warming Mulled Cider - Granny Smith and Pink Lady Apples have been pressed and brewed with cinnamon, nutmeg, cardamom, star anise, bay leaf and citrus. Enjoy a glass in the cosy Harvest Room where you can order pizzas and relax overlooking the orchard. Plus there is live music every Sunday from 12pm - 3pm.

Perth City has cemented its reputation as a culinary paradise, and foodies are in for a treat this winter at The State Buildings. Housing a wide range of dining options from the taste of Thailand at Long Chim to the casual and contemporary dishes of Petition - there is something for all tastes. Enjoy an underground long-table dinner in The Basement, crafted by The Stables kitchen, and a show from a top-quality line-up of award-winning local comics that's guaranteed to have you chuckling from entree to main. The Stables is a hidden oasis housed in one of Perth's original horse stables dating back to 1894. Designed to share, their winter menu includes such warming dishes as tomato and olive arancini, chickpea and cauliflower falafels, whole rotisserie chicken, herb and ricotta gnocchi with mushrooms and truffle, and slow cooked lamb shoulder - yum!

Clarences is one of Perth's original small bars, back with a new collective of local talent bringing flavours of the New Orleans French Quarter to Mount Lawley, complete with rhythm and jazz vibes. The menu is designed for sharing and features stunning West Australian produce alongside Creolan flavours. Grilled Akoya oysters, a rockin' fried (deboned) chicken and 700g sirloin on the bone - yum!

Our eclectic port city Fremantle is full of unique flavour, with so many amazing eateries to explore. At this season, you'll want to try one of Perth's most popular new restaurants - Tonic + Ginger Restaurant. Serving a modern south-east Asian menu, the restaurant is set over two levels within the historic Old Synagogue building. Hundreds of hand-blown glass light fixtures were individually hung to create one of the most photographed features of any restaurant in WA. The menu is a sharing style, so you can order à la carte, or alternatively opt for the popular 'feed me' which changes regularly and features the best seasonal dishes from renowned head chef Leigh Power.

We love the local produce-focused Flics Kitchen with its fabulous, creative and delish house-made charcuterie and seriously mouth-watering plates - like their famous house made Gnocchi with wild mushrooms - you'll want to try them all! Their bottemless brunch is a real treat, including any breakfast dish and 1 hour unlimited prosecco, gin and tonic and tap beer - all for just $45 per person! This is available every Saturday and Sunday from 8.30 - 11am.

And just down the road in the forest town of Pinjarra, you'll find the quirky and cute Jarra Infusion (serious fairytale vibes!). You'll be greeted by friendly staff in their trademark flower crowns keen to share their patch where great food, artisan products and live music combine and come to life. And their mouth-watering tuna patties are the stuff of local legend!

The Perth Hills is famed for its top-notch produce, and it really shows in its restaurants. If you're in the mood for somewhere winter-warming and cosy with a great view, head to the historical village of Darlington - enjoy the picturesque, relaxing walk trail winding through the national park that ends at the gorgeous Perrellas Cafe, with its amazing cuisine handcrafted on site (a feast for the eyes and the tastebuds alike!). Chill out (minus the chill!) to live music from Perth music legend James Taylor; relax with a warming cup of coffee, and enjoy this perfect vantage point to watch nature go by. And for fine-dining vibes in an absolutely stunning historic building, you won't want to miss Millbrook Winery, named by the AFR (Australian Financial Review) as one of the top 100 restaurants in Australia (83rd in the country, and second in WA). Millbrook Winery is the perfect spot to relax by the fireplace and celebrate a special occasion, with innovative and delicious seasonal modern Australian cuisine and set in the stunning surrounds of Chestnut Farm. Their dishes use fruit and vegetables from their own 90-year-old orchard and they invite vegans and vegetarians to let them know when booking and they will design a menu based on the morning's gathering of vegetables! Those who are environmentally conscious, will love their  No Waste Monday menu - enjoy at least three courses of shared food utilising fresh produce from the Millbrook garden left at the end of the busy weekend service.

The Avon Valley is splendid year-round, and we love its winter scenery, with the Avon River full to the brim and fast-flowing, churning over spectacular rapids. You'll also see plenty of birdlife this time of year! When you're ready to relax and rejuvenate after a spot of winter sightseeing, head to Lume Bar & Bistro Northam for global cuisine using only local produce with a European and Indian flair. The restaurant's slogan "casual by day, class by night" rings true - we love the warming curries for lunch, and the mouthwatering steak dinners!
