Follow the Chittering Farm Flavour Trail to discover a winery or two, and unearth a bounty of fresh, seasonal and truly delish produce, or while away your day on the Eat, Pick, Grow Trail, spanning Wanneroo and Chittering with market gardens, picking experiences, and lots of specialist plant outlets giving advice on how to turn your thumb green.

October is a perfect time for foodies to visit Chittering, and enjoy a taste of Chittering quite literally - at the A Taste of Chittering festival. Chittering's two day annual festival showcases the produce, wine and country lifestyle of the greater Chittering region, with delish things galore! Taste the freshest local produce, enjoy the award-winning goods from Chittering's unique wineries and breweries, and explore what makes Chittering such a unique place. 

If you're a lover of baked goods (and really, who isn’t?), you’re going to love the famous Bindoon Bakehaus & Cafe! An award winning bakery-cafe, they offer a huge variety of sweets, savouries, bread and hot pastries, with classics like Aussie steak pies, French vanillas and lamingtons, as well as seasonal and show-stopping products. Omnomnom.

Chittering is known for its fantastic wineries, and rightly so! Stringybark Winery, Restaurant and Function Centre is a fantastic fully-licensed dining and event venue, and is one of the oldest wineries in the Chittering Valley. Their award-winning wines are some of the best in the region, and they're only available direct from the winery which makes the experience ever-so-exclusive. Their food is delish too - whether your favorite is fresh seafood, delicious duck, the very best in lamb and beef dishes or tasty vegetarian, you will find it at Stringybark (and leave some room for dessert - yummo!)

Nesci Estate Wine Farm are well worth a visit. Established in 1948, they produce delicious wines, ports and liqueurs from more than a dozen grape varieties, grown on 60 acres of Chittering's best grape growing soils. In addition to the vineyard, it is also a working cattle farm. Enjoy one of their gourmet local produce platters to share, paired with a glass of their wine, or locally made beer or cider as you sit on their shaded lawns and enjoy a perfect Spring picnic (platters must be ordered in advance via their Facebook page). They also regularly hold events and performances, so keep an eye out.

Family Fun

There's no fruit as delicious as the fruit you pick yourself, and Chittering's The Orchard Perth is the place to do it! With an array of seasonal fruits on offer, including Limes, Mandarins, Oranges, Lemons, Pomegranates and more, no matter what time of year you choose to visit, there is always something to pick. Make sure you stop in at the Packing Shed, where you can purchase fruit by the kilogram, and freshly squeezed juices made right on site at Golden Grove Orchard. Finally, join one of the friendly farmers on a Tractor tour around a citrus Orchard; during the tour, you can pick and taste delicious citrus fruit and take some home with you.

There's also plenty of family fun to be had at the annual A Taste of Chittering, held in Spring, with an array of roaming entertainment throughout the weekend, live music, talented performers and live cooking demonstrations - something for everyone! And your mini farmers will absolutely adore the Little Farmer Corner, with a huge range of free activities including cuddling kid goats, lambs, chickens and rabbits at Old MacDonald's Travelling Farm. You can also experience the local wildlife up-close with joeys, cockatoos and bobtail lizards brought along by the Chittering Wildlife Carers.

Finally, aspiring green thumbs of all ages will love Thrive Sustainability, a family-operated nursery run with the intention to educate and inspire others to grow their own organic food. Browse a huge array of fruit and nut trees, native bush tucker plants, culinary and medicinal herbs, veggie seedlings and more.
